Provider of professional services to the resources and energy sectors, and process industries WorleyParsons Ltd
(ASX:WOR) has been awarded a contract for construction services from Suncor Energy worth $74.4 million Canadian dollars.
Cord WorleyParsons, the construction division of WorleyParsons Canada, is to carry out the scope of work which is for the Firebag 3 well pads and gathering lines associated with this stream assisted gravity drainage facility near Fort McMurray, Alberta.
The contract is scheduled for final construction completion in the fourth quarter of 2010.
WorleyParsons CEO John Grill says this new contract underscores the confidence Suncor has in the company’s construction capabilities in Alberta through Cord WorleyParsons and is a positive indicator of confidence returning to the oil sands energy sector.
WorleyParsons 2009 net profit was $390.5 million.
