Appointment of Exploration Manager

- High calibre appointment reflects confidence in Carrick’s assets
- Building on expertise in the Goldfields area
-Focus split between exploration and project development
- Exploration and development activity set to accelerate

Carrick Gold Limited (ASX:CRK) is pleased to announce the appointment ofWade Johnson as Exploration Manager, to work alongside the recently appointed CEO, John McKinstry. Wade will be responsible for exploration on existing tenements, growing Carrick’s tenement base around Kalgoorlie, and assessing opportunities for Carrick’s future growth. Wade is to commence employment on 4 April 2011.

In addition to accelerating exploration efforts in the Goldfields area, Wade will oversee the development of Carrick’s three deposits at Lindsay’s, Kalpini and Kurnalpi (collectively the LKK Project). These three projects will be consolidated into a single project aimed at having a mining operation underway within a two year time frame.

Wade was most recently Newmont Asia Australia’s exploration manager for SE Asia and Pacific where he was responsible for the management of Greenfields exploration programs and project generation throughout Australia, Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands. Prior to that, he was responsible for exploration in Australia, which included management of a diverse portfolio of exploration properties and joint ventures throughout Australia, including the Yilgarn, Tanami, North Queensland and the Lachlan Belt. This included a significant amount of activity in the Goldfields around Kalgoorlie.

Wade’s vast experience in gold in differing environments, and familiarity with the area in which Carrick operates is a huge kick start to the Company’s exploration efforts.

Wade has been involved in all aspects of joint venture and tenement management, human resources, strategic planning, health and safety, environment and community relations, budgeting, database management to execute field programs.

Comment

Chief Executive Officer, John McKinstry said, “That we have been able to recruit such a high calibre person as Wade, in a tight labour market, speaks volumes of the confidence in Carrick’s prospects.

“Carrick has an outstanding asset base, but has always been hampered by not having a team of technical people to progress its work. As the team comes together over the coming weeks we will start forging ahead with planned programs, rather than just maintaining our ground positions. A priority will be to review the previously published Resource to see where the greatest impact on converting inferred material to a higher confidence category can be made. We expect to reissue before 30 June 2011, with the inclusion of a significant amount of new drilling.

“It is going to be an exciting time ahead, as we look to both develop what we know we have, but also expand our interests in the Goldfields area.”
