Freelancer records H1 loss as revenue jumps

Company News

Freelancer Limited (ASX:FLN) has reported a first half net loss it attributes to its re-investment in future growth.

The online job outsourcer swung from an interim profit to a net loss of $729,000 in the first six months of the 2014 calendar year.

Revenue jumped 41 per cent to $11.9 million as gross payment volume increased 30 per cent to $49.5 million.

Over the half year Freelancer expanded its footprint through the acquisitions of Poland’s largest freelance market place, a Ukraine-based virtual content marketplace and the world's largest internet marketing marketplace and community, Warrior Forum.

Chairman and CEO Matt Barrie has described the results as extremely pleasing and highlighted the record revenue result as a measure of this performance as a whole.
