(ASX:CWN) may look to challenge rival Echo Entertainment Group Limited
(ASX:EGP) in Brisbane if the NSW government blocks its bid to build a casino in Sydney, according to media reports.
The state government is expected to rule on Crown's Sydney development proposal in June, and will also consider an application from Echo to extend its monopoly casino licence.
If it loses out on the Sydney development plans, Crown may take on Echo in Brisbane, where Echo has proposed a new $1 billion dollar casino as part of its expansion plans, according to media reports.
Meantime in separate reports, Crown is planning to axe jobs from its Victorian operation.
Crown will reportedly soon push forward with significant redundancies, mostly impacting its administration, marketing and back office staff.
Crown generated a net profit of $180.7 million in the first half of the current financial year.
