Echo chairman denies board woes

Company News

Recently appointed Echo Entertainment Group Limited (ASX:EGP) chairman John O’neill has denied reports of a factional war among the senior ranks of the company.

According to reports, soon to depart CEO Larry Mullin was at loggerheads with Finance chief Matt Bekier ahead of his resignation, attempting to terminate his employment.

However Mr O'Neill intervened in favour of Mr Bekier, who now finds himself firmly in the running to take Mr Mullin's job.

Mr O'Neill says there is no chaos around the board table at the company, warding off concerns that would prove beneficial to potential suitors including James Packer's Crown, and the Malaysian casino operator Genting.

In the past year Echo has lost chairman, John Story, Mr Mullin as well as Star casino chief Sid Vaikunta, who departed after claims of inappropriate behaviour.
In the 2012 financial year Echo posted a net profit of $42.2 million.
