Top airline Qantas Airways Ltd
(ASX:QAN) has confirmed that it’s wholly owned subsidiary Jetstar and AirAsia are in talks about a potential cost saving joint venture.
The airline says at this stage the discussions are preliminary and no binding agreements have been made.
Qantas says it will further update the market as the discussions develop.
And in other news Qantas has welcomed the Federal Government’s decision to remove the restrictions on the amount of interest in Qantas held by foreign airline shareholders saying it’s an important step forward.
Qantas’ net profit for fiscal 2009 came to $117 million.
