MAp Airports (ASX:MAP) reports 7.8% increase in passenger numbers at Sydney

Airport owner MAp Airports (ASX:MAP) says passenger numbers increased by 7.8% at its Sydney Airport for the month of November the strongest month since February 2008.

Domestic numbers at Sydney rose 8% with international numbers rising 8.4%.

The number of people travelling from Australia grew by 12% with passengers from the US increasing by 22%, numbers from New Zealand rose 11%, up 2% from the UK, and 10% growth was seen from France.

CEO Kerrie Mather says the company’s portfolio of airports continue to show positive signs of recovery with Sydney, Copenhagen and Brussels all recording their strongest monthly traffic result in over a year.

At Sydney airport Ms Mather says MAp continues to see momentum in new capacity announcement with a number of new or increased services including from Jetstar, Air New Zealand and Air Mauritius.

MAp Airports earned over $2 billion in calendar 2008.
