Qantas
(ASX:QAN) is reviewing the impact of a British Airways industrial strike that could see hundreds of flights grounded over the Christmas and New Year period.
Nine out of ten British Airways staff voted in favour of striking from December 22nd until January 2nd over a dispute about pay and job cuts and after it announced a planned merger with Iberia Airways.
Qantas said it is assessing the situation because a number of its flights are code shared with British Airways flights.
Some reports this morning are speculating that it could be good for Qantas as it will fill its flights over this period but it’s not good news for passengers.
Qantas’ net profit in 2009 was $117 million.
