Oil and gas producer Santos Limited
(ASX:STO) is planning to develop a liquefied natural gas project in QLD and says it is already in discussions with potential customers in Asia for supply agreements.
According to Bloomberg CEO David Knox says the company is in active talks with Asian customers both for volumes in the first train and volumes that will underpin its second train or processing unit.
Bloomberg reports that Santos says it may sell as much as 9 per cent of its Gladstone LNG project as part of a fuel-supply agreement.
Earlier this week the company announced an agreement with Unipec Asia Co Limited, a subsidiary of China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation, Sinopec, via Santos’ stake in Exxon Mobil, to supply 2 million tonnes of LNG per year from Papua New Guinea.
Santos posted profit of $1.65 billion in 2008.
