Telstra Corporation Ltd (ASX:TLS) scraps $2.20 admin fee

Company News

Top Telco Telstra Corporation Ltd (ASX:TLS) has scrapped the $2.20 administration fee it introduced in September for-over-the counter bill payments and bill payments made through the mail.

CEO David Thodey told shareholders that he made a mistake in implementing the change without first listening to the people it would affect.

Mr Thodey says Telstra will automatically refund all fees paid by its current customers since the new charge was introduced.

The $2.20 charge was introduced to try and encourage customers to pay their bills electronically, with Mr Thodey saying that he still believes this is the right thing to do for customers, the environment and the business.

Telstra’s profits have been increasing over the last three years.
