Telstra in talks with NBN over assets

Company News

The Australian Financial Review is reporting this morning that Telstra (ASX:TLS) executives met yesterday with officials from the government’s National Broadband Network organization to discuss whether to sell Telstra assets into the government-led Internet project.

Telstra could ask for a cash compensation payment instead of equity in National Broadband Network as part of a deal.

The opposition yesterday released its proposed amendments to the Telstra bill that the government is trying to pass which would see Telstra split into separate wholesale and retail businesses.

Telstra net profits have been increasing for the last 3 years.
