Ten Network
(ASX:TEN) has become the first free-to-air TV network to try to repair the damage done by deep discounting of its advertising rates earlier this year, telling media buyers it wants a 6% increase for 2010. Ten’s push for the rise follows an increase in its night time audience of 8% this year.
Both the Seven and Nine Networks have yet to put their rate increases to media buying agencies.
Negotiations over ad rates and deals for 2010 are expected to start next month. The Ten Network’s 2008 net profit hit a five year high of $273 million.
