Company News

Airport owner MAp Airports Ltd (ASX:MAP), formerly Macquarie Airports, says traffic continued to improve across its portfolio of airports in September, continuing the trend of recent months.

Sydney in particular showed solid growth in September with passenger numbers up 4.9 per cent for the month.

The growth was attributed to a 4.2 per cent increase in domestic passenger numbers while international numbers grew by 7.3 per cent in September.

CEO Kerrie Mather says the company’s European airports have maintained improvements made in recent months, despite the end of the leisure-oriented summer holiday period.

Shareholders recently gave the green light for MAp Airports to internalise its management, the company will now pay $345 million to Macquarie Group for its management rights.

MAp Airports posted a profit of $2.07 billion in 2008, its best in five years.
