Emefcy Group Ltd (ASX:EMC) has signed a deal to build a wastewater treatment plant for the Ayder Hospital, at Mekele University in Ethiopia.

Emefcy says, when the treatment plant is finished, it will provide a reliable and low energy wastewater reuse reference site for customers throughout Africa and the developing world.

The company says its facility will treat 320,000 litres of wasterwater each day, which is 2.5 times the size of its other water treatment facility in Isreal.

Emefcy, considers Ethiopia to be a ‘large opportunity’ because of its lack of sewage handling infrastructure.

The company expects the Ethiopian plant to be commissioned by the end of the year, and that it will generate $430,000 in revenue.

Emefcy reported a net loss of $12.44 million at 31 December 2015.
