Marion Energy (ASX:MAE) is pleased to advise that field operations to convert the ASD 3-17 gas well into a water disposal well have commenced. These operations involve setting a packer above the zone into which water will be disposed and then pressure testing the closed system to prove the absence of any leaks.
Timing to complete the water well conversion operation is uncertain at this time given that the well has been shut in for a lengthy period but is expected to be a relatively short term process.
Once the conversion operation has been completed and approved by regulatory authorities, workover field operations on up to 16 gas production wells will be able to start immediately as the required infrastructure of water disposal pipelines throughout the field is already in place.
The availability of this water disposal well will significantly streamline field operations but most importantly, will also significantly enhance the economics of production.
