Market Reports

by Carolyn Herbert

It has been another positive start to the trading day for the Australian share market, following on from yesterday’s stellar gains. The local bourse jumped at the open and has continued to gain momentum in the first two hours of trade tracking 0.76 per cent higher at noon. We’ve seen the Financials space extend its rally, with a further surge in all of the big four banks; but the best performer is actually the Energy sector today. While practically all sectors are in the black, Utilities are currently tracking flat.

The S&P/ASX 200 index is 45 points up at 5,866. On the futures market the SPI is 40 points higher.
