Virgin Australia Etihad alliance gets green light

Company News

Virgin Australia Holdings (ASX:VAH) has received the go-ahead to continue its air alliance with Etihad for a further five years by the ACCC.

The Australian consumer watchdog said the relationship will likely continue to deliver public benefits by promoting competition.

Under the alliance, Virgin Australia and Etihad cooperate on joint pricing and scheduling of services across their networks which operate between Australia and the Middle East.

The ACCC previously granted authorisation to Virgin and Etihad in February 2011.

Virgin Australia recorded a net loss of $93.8 million at 30 June 2015.
