Toro Energy Limited (ASX:TOE) announces that the Western Australian Minister for Environment has determined appeals against the report prepared by the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) for the extension to the Wiluna Uranium Project (EPA Report 1580) that was published in September 2016.
The Minister has determined to partly allow the appeals by amending certain conditions in EPA Report 1580 and adding a new condition but otherwise has dismissed the appeals.
The new condition relates to the design and operation of the tailings storage facility in the manner recommended by the Appeals Convenor.
The Minister’s determination follows a report from the Appeals Convenor on the appeals lodged to the content of and recommendations in EPA Report 1580. To complete the assessment process, there will now be a short process of consultation as required by s.45 of the EP Act which will involve determination of the precise wording of the amended conditions and final consultation with relevant decision making authorities to seek their agreement to the project being implemented subject to the amended conditions.
