Blackthorn Resources, Update for Perkoa Project

KEY POINTS

- Commissioning of the process plant is underway.

- Underground mining has advanced the main access decline to 1,145m from the portal entrance.

- Total underground mine development including access drives totals 2,597 meters.

- Development ore totalling approximately 20,000 tonnes has been mined and stockpiled for use in commissioning the processing plant.

- The open pit ore has been exposed with the first 8,000 tonnes mined in the first week of September 2012. Phase 2 of the open pit push-back commenced in the 2nd week of September.

- First concentrate is expected to be produced in late October/early November 2012.

Blackthorn Resources Limited (ASX:BTR) (“the Company” or “Blackthorn Resources”) is pleased to provide the following project update for construction and mine development activities at the Perkoa Project in Burkina Faso, West Africa.

The Perkoa Project is a joint venture with Glencore International (50.1%), Blackthorn Resources (39.9%) and the Burkina Faso Government (10% free carried) which is currently developing the first large-scale underground base metals mine in the country. The project is located 120km west from the capital Ouagadougou within the north-easterly trending Proterozoic, Boromo Greenstone Belt.
