Blackthorn Resources Limited (ASX:BTR) (“Blackthorn Resources”) wishes to advise that its Zambian exploration licences, including the Mumbwa exploration licence (8589-HQLPL), are not on the list published in the Times of Zambia on Friday, 16 March 2012 by the Zambian Ministry of Mines and Natural Resources, of licenses issued with default notices. This follows a government audit of the licence processing system.
BHP Billiton is the present title holder of record for the Mumbwa licence and has previously applied for renewal of the licence for its third 2-year term. This renewal is pending. Following confirmation of renewal, BHP Billiton will apply to transfer the licence to Blackthorn Resources and to work with Blackthorn Resources in maintaining the licence in good standing.
While the audit by the Ministry has delayed licence processing, licences remain valid during this period.
