(ASX:ANZ) ANZ is planning to sack about 600 Melbourne call centre staff and send some of their jobs overseas, a union says.
Finance Sector Union national secretary Leon Carter says an ANZ internal memo outlines plans to close the company's call centre in Mulgrave and move the jobs to the Philippines and New Zealand.
The move is expected to affect about 340 jobs.
A further 250 positions at ANZ's South Melbourne office are also expected to go.
Mr Carter says although ANZ described the plan as a proposal, he did not feel confident about the future of these jobs.
ANZ has not yet made official comment on the reports.
ANZ generated a net profit of $2.9 billion in the first half of the current financial year.
