Qantas Airways bets on Emirates boost

Company News

Qantas Airways Limited (ASX:QAN) is betting on getting a boost from its partnership with Middle East based airline Emirates and has spent the weekend promoting the benefits.

Australia’s largest airline has already recorded a lift in ticket sales to Europe on the back of the partnership.

After receiving the green light from Australia's competition regulator last week Qantas has today welcomed clearance from Singapore’s Competition Commission.

Qantas says the partnership will enable it to restructure services to Singapore, improve onward connections with Asia and increase dedicated capacity on these routes by 40 per cent.

Both Emirates and Qantas will codeshare and coordinate sales, marketing and pricing between Australia and Europe, Asia, the Middle East and North Africa.

Qantas Airways generated a net profit of $111 million in the first half of the 2013 financial year.
