Company News

Macmahon Holdings Limited (ASX:MAH) has scored a $220 million contract to design and construct the Great Northern Highway Realignment in Port Hedland.

The contract mining and construction company has been awarded the contract from the Western Australian Government which is scheduled to be completed in mid 2014.

Macmahon will work to establish about eight kilometres of new road and a major interchange at the Broome turn-off.

The design also includes a new road bridge over the BHP Billiton Limited (ASX:BHP) Iron Ore rail line, a low level bridge at South Creek and the establishment of various intersections.

The project is expected to bolster road safety through reduced road-train conflicts with commuter traffic and better access to new port and harbour areas.

In the first half of the 2012 financial year Macmahon Holdings recorded a net profit of $23.2 million.
