Suncorp holds back on policies

Company News

Suncorp Group Limited (ASX:SUN) says it will cease offering new policies to Roma and Emerald both regional towns in Queensland affected by major flooding in recent years.

The insurer says it has paid out $150 million in claims to both towns but has only generated $4 million in premiums.

Suncorp will not be offering new policies until levies are built.

In the first half of the 2012 financial year, Suncorp posted a net profit of $390 million.
