Company News

Galaxy Resources Limited (ASX:GXY) has produced first lithium carbonate at its $100 million Jiangsu Plant in China.

The lithium mining, chemicals and battery company had been targeting production by the end of the first quarter and says it has delivered on this goal.

Managing Director Iggy Tan says the first product at Jiangsu is a major step for the company who will now focus on maintaining plant stability, achieving continuous operation and product quality.

Galaxy expects a 12 month ramp-up of its wholly owned Jiangsu plant to meet its 17,000 tonne per annum design capacity.

In the first half of its 2012 financial year Galaxy Resources booked a net loss of $131.9 million.
