Newcrest Mining Q1 gold output rises 5%

Newcrest Mining (ASX:NCM) has announced gold production for the September quarter rose 5 per cent to 548 thousand ounces compared with a year ago.

But production was down 14 per cent on the June quarter due to a number of planned major plant shutdowns during the period.

Copper production of 25 thousand tones was up 49 per cent on the prior corresponding period.

The miners Cadia mill throughput increased 30 per cent when compared with the prior quarter.

Newcrest says Cadia's operating and financial performance continued to improve with higher production and lower all in sustaining costs per ounce over the period.

The company's guidance for fiscal year 19 remains unchanged.

Shares in Newcrest Mining (ASX:NCM) shares are trading 1.71 per cent higher to $21.05
