Worleyparsons wins Wiggins Island contract

Worleyparsons Limited (ASX:WOR) has won a $75 million contract for work at Stage 1 of the Wiggins Island coal export terminal near Gladstone in Queensland.

The engineering company says the work will involve procurement and construction management services expected to be completed by June 2014.

The Wiggins Island Coal Export Terminal is a $2.5 billion project owned and being developed by existing and potential coal exporters located in Queensland.

The terminal is expected to provide increased, long term export coal capacity, with the first coal shipments planned from 2014.

In the 2011 financial year Worleyparsons delivered a 25 per cent improvement in its full year net profit, coming in at $382 million.
