WorleyParsons wins deal with Fortescue

WorleyParsons Limited (ASX:WOR) has won a $250 million deal with Fortescue Metals to provide engineering services.

The company, which provides professional services to the resources and energy sectors and process industries, will help Fortescue to expand port facilities in Western Australia.

Fairfax reports today say the company will help Fortescue increase iron throughout the Anderson Point facilities at Port Headland to 155 million tonnes a year, up from the current 55 million tonnes.

The project will be staged, with the first stage to be completed by the end of 2011.

WorleyParsons announced a net profit after tax for the six months to December 31, 2010, of $138.2 million.
