Telstra Corporation Ltd (ASX:TLS) looks to suffer a $60 million fall in revenue following action from Australia’s competition regulator, ahead of the transition to the National Broadband Network.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has cut monthly wholesale line rental costs by almost $5, lowering the value of Telstra’s copper network’s by billions of dollars.
The ACCC’s move could effectively cost Australia’s biggest telecommunication company market share from its fixed-line and broadband customers.
A Telstra spokesperson has delayed commenting on the move until the telco calculates the financial impact.
Telstra generated a net profit of $1.2 billion in the first half of the current financial year.
