ACCC: Telstra’s retail prices in regional rural & remote areas may not reduce

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has released a draft decision proposing not to declare a wholesale mobile roaming service.

The competition commission’s draft decision says that Telstra (ASX:TLS)’s retail mobile prices in regional, rural and remote areas may not reduce to a significant extent.

The ACCC says that could well result in overall higher prices, if other service provides raise their retail prices, to reflect the cost of roaming access prices.

The ACCC believes a declaration of a mobile roaming service, in regional and rural areas would lower prices and improve services.

Shares in Telstra (ASX:TLS) are trading 3.67% higher to $4.39.
