Newcrest Mining Ltd
(ASX:NCM) says it has taken precautions to protect the safety and security of employees at its Bonikro gold mine in Ivory Coast.
Following elections in the African country Newcrest has reduced site activities to a minimum and relocated the bulk of mine management to Ghana.
In a separate statement, Newcrest has advised that it is working to reopen part of its underground mine in Indonesia after the mine was blocked because of mudstone movement on Sunday.
Newcrest generated a net profit of $602.4 million in fiscal 2010.
