The wreckage of a plane carrying the entire board of iron ore explorer Sundance Resources Ltd
(ASX:SDL) has been found but it has been confirmed there are no survivors.
News broke over the weekend that a plane carrying the Sundance board, mining tycoon Ken Talbot and 10 foreigners, had gone missing after taking off from Cameroon in West Africa on Saturday.
As yet there are no details on why the plane came down in thick jungle inside the Congolese border with Cameroon, authorities are hoping to examine the plane’s black box for clues soon.
Reports say there were six Australians, two British and one US national on board the plane, which had been chartered by Sundance.
Sundance Resources halted its operations in Africa to search for the plane, with questions being asked as to why all board members were on the same flight, which is against protocol.
Trading in the company’s shares has been halted with CFO Peter Canterbury named acting CEO.
For the 12 months to June 30, 2009 Sundance Resources posted a loss.
