Gold miner Newcrest Mining Ltd
(ASX:NCM) says it produced 442,333 ounces of gold in the December quarter, 17% higher than the previous quarter.
The miner says record quarterly production at Telfer, higher production at Cadia Valley and ramp up at Hidden valley were the main contributors.
Newcrest also produced 23,860 tonnes of copper which was 12% higher than the previous quarter.
Looking ahead the company says it maintains its guidance for overall gold production in fiscal 2010 of between 1.81 million to 1.91 million ounces of gold.
Newcrest says the guidance for copper has increased to 85,000 to 90,000 tonnes for the year.
Newcrest Mining earned $248.1 million in profit for the 2009 financial year.
