Suncorp
(ASX:SUN) reported its NPAT in the first half of the current financial year totalled 537 million – just a 1% gain over the prior corresponding period.
The company's profit after tax from its business lines rose 12.5% to $613 million.
Suncorp’s Australian insurance business saw its NPAT increase 42.5% to $369 million due to top line growth and lower claims costs.
Suncorp declared a fully franked interim dividend of 33 cents per share (which is a 3 cent increase over the previous interim dividend).
The company says the higher dividend reflects Suncorp’s strong capital position, improved cash earnings and confidence in its earnings outlook.
