US multinational energy company, Chevron, has awarded WorleyParsons Ltd (ASX:WOR) a contract worth around US$67 million.

This contract is for the Australian company to provide engineering, procurement, construction management, and fabrication services at Chevron’s refinery in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The company says Chevron’s new refinery is the “first of its kind” using new liquid catalyst technology on a commercial scale – with the aim of reducing the impact on the environment.

WorleyParsonsCord, which is the west Canadian construction division of Worleyparsons, will also assist by fabricating modules as part of this project. WorleyParsonsCord’s contract value is projected at around US$20 million.

WorleyParsons posted a net profit of $48.6 million at 30 June 2016.
