Suncorp estimates $60 - $80M storm damage

Suncorp Group (ASX:SUN) has received around 8,000 insurance claims as a result of the severe storms which affected Australia’s east coast last week.

Suncorp estimates that the financial impact of the storms is between $60 and $80 million.

The insurance company says that, for the 2016 FY, its claims allowance is $670 million.

The company also says that, for the year to date, total natural hazard costs are broadly in line with its annual allowance.

Suncorp reported a net profit of $533 million at 31 December 2015.
