Midday: Aus shares track 0.18% lower at noon

Market Reports

by Carolyn Herbert

Following soft leads from US markets, the Australian share market opened flat but has since lost all momentum and is tracking 0.18 per cent lower at noon. The materials space is being hit the hardest after a drop in the price of commodities overnight and energy stocks are also being sold off ahead of the OPEC meeting this evening. Once again the healthcare space is the shining light, with gains in CSL and Sirtex bouncing back from yesterday’s losses.

The S&P/ASX 200 index is 10 points lower at 5,313. On the futures market the SPI is down 12 points.
