Midday: Aus shares track 0.47% higher at noon

Following strong leads from Wall Street, the Australian share market opened in positive territory and is tracking 0.47 per cent higher at noon.  The energy space is leading the charge.
 
The S&P/ASX 200 index is 25 points higher at 5,384. On the futures market the SPI is up 48 points. 

Company news

SmartTrans Holdings Limited (ASX:SMA) says that it has agreed to market and sell Tim Adams Wines online in China.  In particular, SmartTrans will use its payment platform, SmartPay, to process these sales, earning commission on products sold and a transaction fee on each payment processed.  Shares in SmartTrans are trading 2.94 per cent higher at $0.04. 
 
Volt Resources Limited (ASX:VRC) has announced positive results from its initial Pre-Feasibility Study work on its Namangale Graphite Project in Tanzinia.  Its engineering modelling confirms that there is potential to produce large quantities of coarse flake product over the initial 20 year mine life.  Shares in Volt are trading steady at $0.05. 
 
Best and worst performers

The best performing sector is Energy, gaining 2.98 per cent to 8,249. Shares in Origin Energy have risen 5.35% and trading at $5.71. Shares in Santos and Oil Search are also stronger. 
 
The worst performing sector is financials, excluding REITs, falling 0.11 per cent to 6,695. Shares in Ozforex Group have fallen 3.29% per cent, trading at $2.21. Shares in NAB and Macquarie Bank are also lower. 

Gold and the dollar

Gold is trading at $US 1,278 an ounce.
The Australian dollar is buying $US 0.7346.
