Phylogica’s drug reduces tumour growth in mice

Company News

Phylogica Limited (ASX:PYC) says its intracellular targeting drug has achieved significant reduction in tumours in a mouse model of breast cancer.

The study showed that inhibition of the tumour growth was sustained even after cessation of treatment, suggesting a prolonged impact of the drug.

Chief Scientific Officer of Phylogica Dr Paul Watt says by penetrating into the actual cancer cell the company has a potentially novel and highly effective means of killing cancer cells.

The company says its future focus will be on continuing the company’s transition from concept to product for evaluation in a clinical trial.

Phylogica reported a loss of $2.99 million at 30 June 2015.
