ANZ Banking Group
(ASX:ANZ) has responded to a 60 Minutes program claiming the bank crippled a farmer’s business and hounded him into financial oblivion.
The program focussed on Charlie Phillott and his family in outback Queensland and claimed ANZ bullied the family into leaving their home.
The bank says it is working with Mr Phillott and his family to try and achieve an amicable solution and has proposed to engage a third party to mediate a final resolution.
ANZ believes this is a fair and reasonable offer considering the Phillotts and ANZ signed a settlement together in May last year.
ANZ Banking Group reported a net profit of $3.51 billion in the first half of the 2015 financial year.
