Australia’s Big Banks have joined relief efforts after Tropical Cyclone Pam hit the Pacific Islands over the weekend and devastated Vanuatu.
Asia focussed ANZ Banking Group
(ASX:ANZ) will donate $70,000 to the Vanuatu Red Cross Appeal Fund to support relief efforts.
The bank has had a presence in Vanuatu since 1971 and is the largest bank in the country with two branches servicing more than 30,000 customers.
Australia’s biggest bank Commonwealth Bank of Australia
(ASX:CBA) will donate $50,000 to the Red Cross appeal and accept donations across its branches.
National Australia Bank Limited
(ASX:NAB) will also facilitate donations through its branches and internet banking channel for the Save the Children Cyclone Pam Emergency Response Appeal.
ANZ Banking Group reported a net profit of $7.28 billion in the 2014 financial year.
