FIRST MOBILARM VHF LOCATOR BEACONS DELIVERED TO UNITED STATES NAVY

Mobilarm has completed the on schedule delivery of its V200 VHF Locator Beacons to the United States Navy for sea trials and evaluation as part of a Sole Source contract awarded to the company by the United States Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA). Since the V200 delivery the US Navy has confirmed completion of successful pressure testing trials down to 450 metres (1,500 feet). The V200 been specifically developed by Mobilarm for US Navy submariners for escape and abandonment and is expected to lead to the product being recommended as a standard for submarine escape systems across all NATO submarine defence forces.

Mobilarm’s recent Sole Source contract win with the US Navy is testament to the innovation of the company’s safety products, which utilise world leading technology, with application across all maritime sectors. The US Navy contract is a particularly important progression for Mobilarm and represents a significant opportunity for the company to further expand its offering to the global defence and military markets.

Mobilarm CEO Lindsay Lyon commented: “It’s a major step forward for Mobilarm to have the opportunity to supply a major defence force with safety equipment, potentially leading to the product being recommended as a standard for submarine escape systems across all NATO submarine defence forces. Successful V200 trials and NAVSEA’s move to procurement of the device from Mobilarm will represent the most significant commitment of individual submariner safety and survival equipment since the Beaufort Mk11 SEIE (survival suit) in 2008.”

In independent trials, Mobilarm’s VHF Locator Beacons have significantly outperformed existing technology with their ability to enable search and rescue teams to locate, track and recover people in the water, and plan their rescue more effectively. The US Navy contract provides for a new submariner version of the Mobilarm V100 VHF Locator Beacon (V200) to be evaluated and considered as a safety-enhancing addition to survival suits, to enable locating and tracking of evacuated submariners.
