ACCC backs down over Greencross

Company News

Greencross Limited (ASX:GXL) says the ACCC has discontinued its informal merger review into the City Farmers acquisition.

The merger was completed in July this year and the ACCC undertook a review process on competition concerns. Greencross shrugged off cares at the time saying it did not consider the acquisitions would raise competition concerns in the relevant market.

Greencross, a vet services and pet care company, has been undergoing an aggressive expansion strategy, merging with both City Farmers and Mammoth Pet Holdings in the past 12 months.

The company now boasts over 246 outlets across Australia and New Zealand.

Greencross Limited (ASX:GXL) reported losses of $126 million for the 2014 financial year.
