Primary Health Care founder & MD steps down

Primary Health Care Limited’s (ASX:PRY) founder and managing director Edmund Bateman has announced its intention to step down from the role. 
 
The health care provider says Dr Bateman will retire from the role at the end of January 2015 and then become a non-executive director.
 
Dr Bateman founded the company in 1985 on Sydney's northern beaches. 
 
Dr Bateman went on sick leave since September for an undisclosed illness and Andrew Duff was appointed as Acting Managing Director. 
 
Primary Health Care says it has been undertaking succession planning since 2011 and Mr Duff will continue in the role as acting Managing Director until a replacement is found.
 
Primary Health Care reported a net profit of $162.5 million in the 2014 financial year.
