AGL Energy appoints Andrew Vesey new chief

Energy provider AGL Energy Limited (ASX:AGK) has appointed Andrew Vesey as its new Managing Director and CEO.
 
Outgoing chief Michael Fraser has been in the role for more than seven years and worked with the company for 30 years. 
 
Mr Vesey will join AGL on January 12 and officially take over leadership of the company when Mr Fraser steps down on February 11, following the company’s interim results. 
 
Mr Vessy comes with more than 30 years experience in the energy sector, including strategic and commercial leadership of large energy organisations.
 
Mr Vessy will join AGL after leaving his role as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of global power generation utility company, The AES Corporation (NYSE:AES). 
 
AGL Energy’s net profit jumped 52 per cent to $570 million in the 2014 financial year.
