LNG applies for gas export licence in Canada

Company News

Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (ASX:LNG) has filed an application with Canada’s National Energy Board for an export licence for up to 12 million tonnes of LNG per year.

The company’s wholly owned subsidiary Bear Head LNG filed the application and is also seeking a licence to import up to 503 billion cubic feet of natural gas annually from the US.

The company is seeking to import natural gas from the US and export LNG from Nova Scotia for a 25 year term.

The CFO of Bear Head LNG, Ian Salmon, says the market is stronger than anticipated and the company is well positioned to meet customer needs.

LNG reported a net loss of $24.66 million in the 2014 financial year.
