News Corp boosts Q1 earnings

News Corp (ASX:NWS) has reported a solid first quarter result with earnings up 21 per cent.
 
The media company says revenues pushed to $2.15 billion in the three months to the end of September which represents a gain of 4 per cent.
 
CEO Robert Thomson says the company’s global platform has been bolstered in books, online real estate and business information and analysis, while the announced acquisition of Move will provide a new foundation for growth in digital real estate.
 
The company also saw gains from the addition of Harlequin titles which contributed results after it was acquired in August this year. 
 
News Corp reported a net profit of $312 million in the 2014 financial year.
