ASX establishes new global hub site

Company News

ASX Limited (ASX:ASX) has established a point of presence, or direct connection hub, in CME Group’s co-location facility.

The operator of the Australian Securities Exchange says the move will expand and improve the ability of North American customers to connect to ASX markets in Australia.

ASX describes CME Group as one of the world’s pre-eminent exchange groups and says its data centre in Aurora, Illinois is poised to host an ASX hub from this month.

The hub will provide direct connectivity to ASX markets and also the Australian financial markets community centralised within ASX’s own data centre in Sydney.

ASX says North America is a strong customer market and the company will be the first exchange inside CME Group’s co-location facility to offer this type of connectivity.

ASX lifted its net profit by 10 per cent to $383.2 million in the 2014 financial year.
