AGL Broken Hill Solar Plant gets green light

AGL Energy Limited (ASX:AGK) will advance its Broken Hill Solar Plant after receiving the green light to start construction. 
 
The energy company says the plant’s plans have been approved by the New South Wales Department of Planning and Environment. 
 
AGL has described the approval as an important milestone in progressing the construction of the 53 megawatt solar plant. 
 
The company now plans to move forward with the construction phase which is expected to be completed by the end of 2015. 
 
AGL will deliver the project in partnership with federal and state governments, the Broken Hill City Council and local community and project partners First Solar.

AGL Energy reported a net profit of $570 million in the 2014 financial year.
