Freelancer buys tech startup conference & community

Online job outsourcing company Freelancer Limited (ASX:FLN) has bought the biggest technology startup conference and community in Australia, SydStart. 
 
The company has appointed SydStart’s founder Pete Cooper as Regional Director, Australasia.
 
Mr Cooper will lead media, communications and business development in Australia and New Zealand and the acquired assets of SydStart. 
 
Freelancer CEO Matt Barrie describes SydStart as the best technology conference in the country and plans to take it to the next level. 
 
SydStart was established in 2009 and includes about 5,000 tech startup professionals, investors and ecosystem participants.  
 
Freelancer reported a net loss of $729,000 in the first six months of the 2014 calendar year.
